Mastic Beach Clean Up Day

Mastic Beach: The rain was a no show but over a hundred volunteers did show for the Mastic Beach Clean-up on Saturday January 12th. Volunteers from The Tri-Hamlet Hurricane Relief, Lee Zeldin and Ed Hennesey’s office’s WFSD, Riverhead Charter School, Girl Scout Troop #868 Sayville, Boy Scout Troop #138, Kiwanis Club of Mastic, MBPOA members, Meet Up, WFTU, PACA PTO, IBEW, Brownies Troops as well as unaffiliated civic minded volunteers converged on the Mastic Beach Property Owners Association Clubhouse.

They were outfitted with vests, garbage bags, gloves, rakes, brooms, and pickers supplied by Brookhaven National Lab who also came with an army of volunteers. Beth Wahl and the William Floyd Summit provided rolls, butter and cream cheese while the MBPOA provided coffee, tea and donuts along with donated baked goods.

Kate Browning and Dan Panico participated with their staffs and showed their commitment to helping Mastic Beach by rolling up their sleeves and braving the mud, briars and poison ivy. Over the 4 hours concerned volunteers collected over 100 of bags of trash and debris. Mastic Beach Mayor Bill Biondi and the Village sent trucks out immediately to pick-up all of the debris collected.
We would like to thank all who showed up and hope to do another clean-up in late March early April.
New Years Eve
December 31, 2012 : A cozy group of members and their friends gathered at the MBPOA Club House to see the end of 2012 and ring in 2013. A few table games were brought to entertain. There were hats and crowns and lea's. Thank you to all the attendees who brought food to share. We wish a Happy New Year to all our members.

January General Meeting
The meeting on January 10th was a quiet one. Our interim-President Gerry Ludwig presided and business was taken care of quickly. Bill Doyle from Senator Lee Zeldin's office came to speak to us about what Senator Zeldin had been doing to help our area since Hurricane Sandy. The Senator himself was spending the week doing his military reserve service and had sent Mr. Doyle to speak.
