April 2017 Newsletter

Mastic Beach Property Owners Assoc.

APRIL  2017 NEWSLETTER

President's Corner

Hello Members,
I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy spring season, as well as a Happy Easter and a Happy Passover.

As we leave March 2017 behind us, never to be heard from again, it left us with some good memories. First off, there was a visit from Chief Charles Voelger from the Mastic Beach Ambulance Company who attended and spoke at our monthly meeting. We’d like to thank Chief Voelger for addressing the membership and sharing some insight about the new ambulance building.

On March 3rd, we had our second casino bus trip. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend, but everyone that I spoke with said they had a great time and would do it again. Please keep an eye out in our newsletters for future trips. Finally, there was Night at the Races; which I will leave for later in this newsletter.

Back to the future, we need to find a common ground which, to me, should be the betterment of Mastic Beach. I’ve come to accept that there are people in this community that will never get along; and that’s ok.  I’m asking these people to support actions or movements that will better the community even though they might have been initiated by a person or group that they don’t always agree with.
We, in Mastic Beach need to show that we are united in our goals to turn our community into one which we can all be proud of.
Everyone knows that there is strength in numbers, so I ask you again if you or anyone you know is concerned for the community, please get involved.   You can join the MBPOA, or any other civic you feel comfortable with.  The most important thing to remember is that when it comes to Mastic Beach we all want the same thing; a better community for ourselves and our families.  As always, I may be reached at the e-mail below.
Thank you and be well,
Frank DeLustro, MBPOA President

MBPOA Projects

The Clubhouse will be closed April 16th through April 22nd for the repair and refinishing of the hardwood floors.
Future plans for the Clubhouse will include fencing of the Clubhouse grounds and a deck for summer events. Any members that wish to bid on these projects, please contact us at 631-399-6111.

Marina Update

A fence along the southeast section of the marina will begin this week.  Board walk repairs, and normal repairing of the electric, and broken water lines, is the usual repairs each season and will be completed to start the season.

Membership & boat slip applications     should be in at this time in order to secure the slip you had previously.   If you need an application, please call the office and one will be mailed to you.
As of April 15th, if all the poles covered have been removed, you may put your boats in the slip assigned to you.  Electric will be turned on, but water will not be turned on until May 15th when security  begins.

April 7th General Meeting
Members Only

Former Mayor Spery and New Elected Mayor Bob Miller will be the guest speakers
and will discuss the transition of power to the Town of Brookhaven.

May 4th General Meeting
Members Only

Mark your calendar for the May General Meeting.  The Family Service League Care Giver Support Program will discuss their free programs that are available to the public for caregivers.  A speaker form the SC Office of the Aging will also be available with handouts and information.

This is a subject that affects so many of us and their information can only help us all on our life’s journey, if and when needed.

Night at the Races

The March 11th Night at the Races was a big success with 120 people attending and enjoying the corned beef and cabbage dinner catered food from MJ Catering.

Excitement was in the air with each race and MBPOA Member Aileen Markowski, the grand winner of the membership raffle was beyond excited to win the raffle of $1145.
