General Membership Meeting
The
March General Membership meeting was canceled due to the weather.

April General
Membership Meeting
The
April General Membership meeting is on Thursday April 2,2015 at
7:30pm. The guest speaker will be Brookhaven Town Councilman Dan
Panico. We will also be discussing MBPOA plans for the spring.
Spring
Nite at the Races Report
The March 14 Night at the Races was a huge success with over 100 hundred people enjoying a delicious corned beef and cabbage dinner prepared by Bill & Pat Hack and Mike Giangrasso. After dinner the races began and the excitement continued until the very last race. The 50/50 was won by Eddie Ritzmann. The annual MBPOA Membership raffle first prize winner off $500 was MBPOA Gold Card Member Mario DiMeo and the second prize of $250 was won by Kathy James.

There
were so many helpers throughout the evening and too many to mention,
so our sincere appreciation to all who made the night a success once
again. Thank you also to all the attendees who made the evening so
much fun and for their support of the MBPOA. Events like the Nite at
the Races are not only a fun time but they enable the MBPOA to do
it's charity work throughout the year.
Dates
for summer and fall party rentals are being booked now. Plan early
so you are not disappointed. If you would like to rent the hall

evening phone number and the date you may be interested on our voice

The
community came out in full support at the Chinese Auction to benefit
baby Joseph James Diorio who has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid
Leukemia. Baby Joseph’s parents are Jaymie &
Rob O’Brien; grandparents are Donna and Ralph Gangemella and
Rosemarie & James O’Brien; all long time residents of Mastic
Beach. Shown representing the Mastic Beach Property Owners
Association with their donation is Financial Secretary Lynne DeBona
and Director Frank Delustro.
The
Mastic Beach Property Owners Association will be presenting the
Fourth Annual Artists United to Help Hospice House fund raising event
on Sunday April 19 from 2 – 6 pm. Admission is $7. Ten original
pieces of art will be auctioned off to help the 'Visiting Nurse
Service & Hospice of Suffolk Inc.' Please see the enclosed
brochure for more information.
The
Mastic Beach Property Owners Association would like to congratulate
Mayor-Elect Maura Spery, Trustee-Elect Anne Snyder and Trustee-Elect
Christopher Anderson. We at the MBPOA know that they will work for
the betterment of the whole Mastic Beach community. Thank you to all
of the candidates and also to everyone who exercised their civic
responsibility and voted in the village election.
There
will be an Open Mic Night on Friday April 10. The clubhouse bar will
be open at 7pm and be staffed by Michael and Catherine Kobasiuk.
Country
Dancing
There
will be no Country Dancing on April 3 due to Good Friday. Dancing
will be held will be held on April 17. Admission is $8 for MBPOA
members and $10 for guests. There is a 50/50 raffle, complimentary
coffee and cake and a cash bar. No outside beverages please.
Marina
#1 is now being prepared for the coming season. Marina #5 is not
being opened this season so anyone who rented a slip there last year
can call the clubhouse to arrange for a slip in Marina #1. After the
pole covers are removed we will be resetting any poles which have
come loose or have been pushed up by the ice over winter. Please
wait until the all clear has been announce before attempting to dock
in any of the slips in Marina #1.
Reminders
of best practices for using the MBPOA Marina are as follows:
Carry-In/Carry-Out: no garbage should be left anywhere on the Marina
property. Please take all of your trash with you. No fileting or
cleaning of fish in the Marina and no dumping of bait, or fish waste
into the Marina. No discharging of sewage into the Marina water. A
Brookhaven Town pump out boat can be arranged on VHF Channel 73 or go
to the Forge River Town Marina to use the pump out there.
Please
watch your wake when entering or leaving the Marina. P,lease be
considerate of your neighbors and have a safe summer.
The
MBPOA has volunteered to clean the corner of Havenwood Drive and
William Floyd Parkway. We will meet in the morning of May 16. Dress
appropriately.
MBPOA
Liaison Officers
We
are looking for MBPOA members who are active in other local clubs to
act as MBPOA liaison officers and help keep us up to date on what
their other club is doing and to help pass information back and
forth. If you are active in one or more local clubs or groups and
would like to participate with us in this way please email the club
at mbpoa1928@optonline.net
or call the clubhouse and leave a message at 399-6111.
The
Third Annual MBPOA Yard Sale will be on May 30 in the MBPOA Clubhouse
parking lot. If you would like to rent a table for $20/member or
$25/nonmember please call 399-6111. Big Brothers and Big Sisters will
be by at the end of the day to take away anything not going home with
you. The sale is from 9am to 4pm. No Early Birds Please.
Friday
nights are Meet & Greet at the MBPOA Clubhouse Bar. Members and
their guests are invited to stop by for a drink (alcoholic or not)
and a chat. Nights that are not Country Dancing nights sometimes
become karaoke nights.
Volunteer
Work
If
anyone has high school or middle school students in need of
volunteer hours have them contact President Catherine Kobasiuk at
879-2881. There is usually light office work to do once or twice a
month. When the spring cleaning season hits we will have outside
work to do also.
