April General Meeting
The
guest speaker at the April General Membership Meeting was Brendan
McCurdy, Chairman of the Board of the Peconic Baykeeper. Mr. McCurdy
began by giving us the history of the Peconic Baykeeper.
Peconic
Baykeeper is one of 35 North Atlantic waterkeeper organizations which
are all linked together through the Waterkeeper Alliance (
waterkeeper.org ) to hundreds of grassroots organizations around the
world.
The
Peconic Baykeeper's range of interest is the Peconic Bay and the
South Shore
Estuary
of Long Island. The main topics of interest right now to the PBK are
reduction of pollutants into the ecosystem from waste water and
fertilizer and controlling the amount of insecticides released into
the ecosystem; especially from mosquito spraying.
Mr.
McCurdy's talk was very informative and educational. We thank him
again for his time.
The
meeting then continued with old and new business including our
committee reports. There were reminders for our upcoming functions.
To
top off the meeting Mario Dimeo a former director and long time
member was presented with his lifetime gold membership card.
The
winner of the 50/50 of $17 was Sonny Vineri. The meeting then
adjourned for coffee and cake and to congratulate Mario.

Honorable Stephen Ukeiley, County Court Judge. The Honorable Stephen
L. Ukeiley has authored “The Bench Guide to Landlord & Tenant
Disputes in New York” and

Ukeiley will be speaking about the court system and how it works.
Please
be advised that Judge Ukeiley can not make comment on any court cases

The

the covers off the poles. The electric is now on and we are
evaluating what work needs to be done. The guards will start on May
15 and that is when the water will be turned on. Boat owners please
remember that there are no structures to be put on the walks or
bulkheads except for previously approved catwalks and ladders.
If
your boat is near a planter feel free to plant flowers or herbs.
Remember to plant something the deer do not like to eat.
