General Meeting
The
November 7 General Membership Meeting was a pleasant evening.
President Jean San Martin kept things moving along so that the
business portion of the evening went quickly. A report was given by
Vice President Michael Kobasiuk summarizing the New York Rising
Albany conference that he and Director Maura Spery recently
attended. An update on Nora Getchell was given by Director Barbara
Fitzgerald. (Under new business the Christmas/Holiday Party was
discussed.)
A
presentation was given by Recording Secretary Catherine Kobasiuk
explaining a workshop she had attended about social media and email
marketing. Mrs. Kobasiuk then illuminated some of the MBPOA's plans
to promote itself through social media and optimize our use of email
to keep our members and community informed.
The
50/50 was $15 and was won by Vice President Michael Kobasiuk. The
meeting then adjourned for coffee and cake.
Nite
at the Races
A
wonderful time was had at the November 2 Nite at the Races.
Thank you to Financial Secretary Lynne DeBona for arranging the
seating and taking tickets at the door. An impressive dinner of half
a rotisserie chicken and potatoes and vegetables was served. Thanks
to all our kitchen volunteers for all their hard work with shopping
and cooking. The hall was festive in autumn colors. Thank you to
our set up staff. Recording Secretary Catherine Kobasiuk started the
evening off and after dinner introduced Director Maura Spery who was
the MC for the horse races. Thank you to Director Chris Zarcone for
setting up the sound system. Thanks to all of our cashiers. The
projector was manned by Vice President Michael Kobasiuk (with better
results than in the spring). There was also a 50/50 drawing at the
end of the evening. Thank you to Director Barbara Fitzgerald and
Marina Kobasiuk for selling the 50/50 tickets.

General Meeting
Our
December General Meeting will also be our Members Holiday Party.
It will be on December 5, 2013 at 7:30pm. (This year we are doing
something different.) Dinner will be Pot Luck. Attendees should
bring a warmed up or ready to eat main dish to share. The MBPOA will
be providing cake and soft drinks. Santa Claus is scheduled to make
an appearance. Please bring a toy for the Toys for Tots toy drop box
located in our lobby.

Report
Marina
1 and Marina 5 have both been winterized. Thanks to Director Bill
Hack and his team; Ryan Painter, Jim Gibson, Danny Burke, James
Gibson, Peter Lynch, and James Maltese. A repeat thank you to Vic
Viola for repairing the floating barge that was damaged in Super
Storm Sandy.

Membership
packets will be mailed out the beginning of December. Inside you
will find raffle tickets for our Membership Drive Raffle which will
be drawn at our March 15, 2014 Nite at the Races. The raffle
tickets are $5 each and the prizes are $500 cash and $250 cash for
1st prize and 2nd prize respectively. Please
fill out the stubs completely and mail back with payment and your
membership forms to P.O. Box 212 Mastic Beach, NY 11951.

Volunteer
Work
If
anyone has high school students in need of volunteer hours have them
contact Recording Secretary Catherine Kobasiuk at 281-8430. There is
usually light office work to do once a month at this time of year.
Meet
& Greet Fridays
Ever
Friday night is a get together at the Clubhouse. The bar is open to
our members and their guests and this is a good opportunity to meet
new people, play darts, enjoy card games, or just enjoy conversation.
Light fare is available at a small cost to cover expenses.
Any
changes to the schedule will be available on our Twitter and Face
book page.

- Line Dance lessons Mondays at 7:30 PM until 10:00 PM.

Christmas
Parade
The
MBPOA will be entering a float in the Mastic
Shirley Chamber of Commerce
Christmas Parade on December 8 at 12pm. If you and/or your family
would like to march with us please find us behind Kohls by 11 am.

This
year we are inviting everyone watching the parade to tweet a picture
of our float at @MBPOA
with
the hashtag #MBPOA. We will choose one of these pictures to put into
our January Newsletter and add into our Flickr photo stream giving
